The Youth Orchestras of Charlotte comprise several performing groups. They are committed to musical excellence and rigor as well as diversity and inclusiveness. The ensembles are led and coached by a team that includes musicians of the Charlotte Symphony and the area’s top music educators.
Youth Orchestra
As our most advanced ensemble, the Youth Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra made up of experienced young musicians. They perform staples of orchestral repertoire in a professional symphony setting. Rehearsals: Mondays from 5:45-8:15pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (August-May).
Preparatory Orchestra
The Preparatory Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra that performs both symphonic literature and arrangements geared toward intermediate players. Rehearsals: Saturdays from 2:00-4:00pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (September-May).
Sinfonia Strings
Sinfonia provides novice strings players with the invaluable experience of playing in an ensemble. Rehearsals: Saturdays from 11:45-1:45pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (September-May).
Flute Choir
Fun and challenging at the same time, our Flute Choir creates a unique space for experienced flute and piccolo players to work as a chamber ensemble. Rehearsals: Mondays from 4:15-5:45pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (September – May).
